A
Access Request
A formal process to apply for NDIS support. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the eligibility criteria for the NDIS.
Annual Plan Review
A yearly review of your NDIS plan to assess your goals, progress, and support needs. This ensures your plan is up-to-date and continues to meet your needs.

Capacity Building Supports
Supports aimed at helping individuals develop skills and independence over time.These may include therapy, training, or assistance in learning how to manage everyday tasks.
Care Coordination
A service that helps you manage and coordinate the different supports in your NDIS plan, ensuring they work together effectively to meet your needs.
Core Supports
The basic supports that are essential for everyday life. This includes personal care, transportation, household tasks, and social participation.
Community Participation
Supports that help individuals take part in community activities, fostering inclusion and connection with others.

Disability Support Worker
A trained professional who helps people with disabilities with their daily activities and personal care needs. This may include assistance with mobility, personal hygiene, or social activities.
Disability
A term used to describe a condition that impairs a person’s ability to perform certain tasks or functions. Disabilities can be physical, intellectual, sensory, or psychosocial.

Early Intervention
The support and services provided to children with developmental delays or disabilities as early as possible to improve long-term outcomes and help with growth and learning.
Eligibility Criteria
The set of requirements that a person must meet to be eligible for NDIS support. These include having a permanent disability, being under 65 years of age, and being an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Funding
The financial support provided through the NDIS to help individuals access necessary services and equipment. The NDIS funding is divided into different categories, including Core Supports, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports.
Functional Capacity
A person’s ability to perform everyday tasks and activities independently or with assistance. This is assessed during the NDIS planning process.

Goal Setting
The process of identifying personal objectives that you want to achieve with NDIS support. Goals can focus on improving independence, learning new skills, or increasing community participation.
I
Individualised Support Plan
A detailed document created by the NDIS and the participant that outlines the supports, services, and goals of the participant’s NDIS journey.
Informal Supports
Support provided by family, friends, and others in the community, which is not funded by the NDIS.
Inclusive Practices
A philosophy and approach that ensures all individuals, regardless of their disability, have the opportunity to participate fully in society.

NDIS Plan
A personalized plan developed for each NDIS participant outlining their goals, the supports they will receive, and the funding available for those supports.
NDIS Participant
An individual who is eligible to receive funding and support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
P
Plan Management
A service where a Plan Manager helps manage the finances and administration of an NDIS plan, such as paying providers and keeping track of budget spending.
Personal Care
Assistance with personal activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
S
Service Provider
An organization or individual that offers supports and services to NDIS participants. Carepro Disability Services is an example of a registered NDIS service provider.
Support Coordination
A service that helps participants navigate and manage their NDIS plans, connect with providers, and ensure the supports meet their needs.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
A service that supports participants with daily tasks and personal care in a shared living environment, enabling individuals to live as independently as possible.

Transport Supports
Funding to help with transportation to attend activities, appointments, or community events. This can include assistance with taxis, public transport, or other travel options.
W
Workplace Supports
Supports designed to assist individuals with disabilities in gaining and maintainin employment, including job coaching, workplace modifications, or other employment- related services.
